Sharon Regional Senior Circle Announces Events and Programs for December 2016

(Sharon, PA) – Sharon Regional Senior Circle to host a variety of educational health sessions and events. Sharon Regional’s Senior Circle program is a membership-based program designed to promote healthier lifestyles for adults 50 and older. Our Senior Circle chapter, one of more than 100 nationwide, offers members a generous menu of activities and benefits designed to enhance their quality of life and learn about health and general wellness by encouraging networking, offering fitness and health-related educational programs, in-hospital benefits, and national and local discounts.   • Gentle Yoga
    Thursdays, December 15, 22 and 29 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m., at the Diagnostic & Imaging Center 2435 Garden Way Hermitage. This 45 minute instructional class will focus on integration of basic yoga postures, alignment, and breathing to increase muscular strength and postural awareness. Yoga promotes body/mind/breath connection to learn lifelong strategies for improved mobility. Suitable for all levels of practice. Loose fitted clothing is recommended. Please bring your own yoga mat. Pre-registration is required for this class as there is a maximum class size of 10.
  • Balance for Seniors
    Thursdays, December 15 and 22 from 1:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m., at the Shenango Valley YMCA, 925 North Hermitage Road, Hermitage. Every 20 minutes an older adult dies as a result of a fall and every 14 seconds a senior in the US is taken to the ER after a fall. This class will focus on improving balance, as well as learn tips to help to reduce your risk of a fall. Loose fitting clothes and comfortable supportive shoes are recommended. Pre-registration is required for this class as there is a maximum class size of 15.
  • Strength for Seniors
    Mondays, December 12 and 19 from 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m., at the Diagnostic & Imaging Center 2435 Garden Way Hermitage. This class will be based around strength and resistance training to help strengthen muscles and bones, provide relief from arthritis pain, improve ROM, control weight and glucose levels, and can even help with mood and sleep cycles. The class will use resistive equipment either a resistance band or light set of dumbbells (2-3lbs). There will be a limited number available so if you have a set of your own please bring to class. The class will incorporate stretching both as a warm up and cool down with resistive training and light cardiovascular training in between. Loose fitting clothes and comfortable supportive shoes are recommended.
  • Prize BINGO
    Wednesday, December 14 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the Diagnostic & Imaging Center 2435 Garden Way in Hermitage. Join Sharon Regional’s Senior Circle for Prize BINGO hosted by the Nugent Group. No cost to play.
  • Senior Tech Class
    Friday, December 16 from 9:30 a.m. — 11 a.m.,at the E-Center at Linden Point, 3580 Innovation Way, Hermitage. Learning to use technology is easy! This 90 minute class will focus on learning the basics of using a smart phone or tablet. There will be time for one on one Q&A. Please bring your smart phone or tablet with you to the class.
