Sharon Regional Medical Center Welcomes Joseph G. Hugar as New President

Joseph G. Hugar has been announced as the new President of Sharon Regional Medical Center. Hugar brings decades of senior level health care administration experience to his new role at Sharon Regional.

Prior to his appointment as President of Sharon Regional, Hugar served as the President and CEO of Holy Family Medical Center and Presence Life Connections in the Greater Chicago Area. In that role, he oversaw the provision of care and services to more than 6,000 patients on a daily basis. Hugar has also served in senior leadership positions at Kindred Healthcare (New England), HealthSouth (Pennsylvania), and at several other health care companies. He earned his M.S. in Health Services Administration from Gannon University in Erie, PA.

Originally from Franklin, PA, Hugar welcomed the opportunity to relocate closer to his hometown and to help advance the new model of health care delivery being introduced at Sharon Regional since it recently became a Steward Family Hospital.

“Sharon Regional Medical Center offers the Shenago Valley access to high quality medical care and has more than 120 years of service to this area,” said Hugar. “I’m excited for the future of Sharon Regional, particularly as the hospital evolves and integrates into the new model of world class, affordable, community-based health care delivery being pioneered nationally by Steward Health Care.”

Hugar replaces former Sharon Regional President Jason Roeback, who recently returned to his hometown of Erie, PA to assume a role at Saint Vincent Hospital.
