Sharon Regional Employee Honored

Congratulations to Donnee Huffer, BSN, RN, CEN, EMT, Director of our Emergency Care Center for being honored by the Buhl Regional Health Foundation's National Hospital Week award.  Donnee was selected as an outstanding employee for her more than 30 years with Sharon Regional providing exceptional care and outstanding leadership.  A donation was made in her name to Adrienne's Army to help those with metastatic breast cancer.

Dr. Michelle Thompson, a physician, Donnee Huffer, RN, Nurse Manager, SRMC and Sandy Erdice, volunteer at UPMC, were recently honored with the Buhl Regional Health Foundation’s National Hospital Week award.

The recipients each received $3,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice: Dr. Thompson chose Earth Angel Farm in Warren, OH to create a mobile teaching kitchen to be used in Food As Medicine programs, Huffer selected a local non-profit Adrienne’s Army to support those with metastatic breast cancer, and Erdice’s gift will go to UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation to be used for babies who are born with neonatal abstinence syndrome.

Hospitals in the Sharon regional area were asked to nominate a physician, employee and volunteer for the award. The Buhl Regional Health Foundation received nominations from each hospital and selected these three individuals based on their time and efforts to improve the lives of the people in our community by the care they provide. A total of $9000 was awarded.
